Describe Yourself:
Now that you mention it, I have been trying to figure out who and what I am these days (without becoming an abject navel-gazer). This much is true: I live in the same dishevelled Northern California city where I was born in 1964. I haven't always lived here and I get a little frantic if I imagine myself living out my days here. There are lots of other places I'd rather live. But this is where I am right now.
My marriage ended over the summer and I am up, down, and sideways over that. Most of the time I'm fine, but sometimes, I'm awful. I have three (amazing! beautiful! wonderful!) kids and I was homeschooling them up until this year. Now they're in regular public school and I'm trying to scrounge up the kind of freelance writing and editing work I used to do. I also work part-time as a teacher, teaching literature classes at a charter school.
